It’s Time to Speak Up
A quick message about rumors, ads, and how we keep the lights on.
Most of you have known our website for years. We’ve been online since 2009 — through countless domain changes — but we’ve never gone offline.
For a long time, I avoided writing posts like this. I believed our visitors came here for anime, not for “boring admin rants.” But lately, I’ve seen too many rumors, gossip, and outright nonsense being spread, so here I am — the admin of the WCO team — finally speaking. From now on, I’ll be sharing more posts to clear things up when needed.
First: Rumors
No — we are not shutting down. I’ve seen messages on Reddit claiming otherwise, but it’s rubbish. As far as I know, we’re one of the oldest English cartoon websites still standing. Maybe the oldest. (If I’m wrong, feel free to throw some rotten tomatoes at me.)
The “Operation Ad-Free” Story
We’ve received a gazillion emails, complaints, and even threats about the countdown timer on our site. People think it’s pointless. So here’s the truth:
Our websites (you can find them all on WCOStatus.Com) have zero ads right now. The only reason we’re still online is thanks to our premium users, who cover most of our costs. But we still need more to keep the system running long-term.
We’ve tried ads before — but it always ended in floods of complaints. Some users’ antivirus software flagged ads as malware (that’s where I got the term “Malware Risk”). So my team and I thought: why not do our own advertising, warn people in advance, and avoid a million angry emails?
That’s what “Operation Ad-Free” was about — letting you know that popunder ads are coming soon so no one is caught off guard.
FAQ — Straight Answers
Are popunder ads really coming?
Yes. You’ll see them in a couple of days.
Should I worry about my payment details being stolen?
No. Payments go through PayPal and Stripe — two of the safest systems in the world. Your information stays secure with them.
“Your site isn’t legal, so why are you asking for money?”
We’re not selling videos. Premium memberships support hosting and upkeep — just like paying for YouTube Premium to remove ads. Netflix charges $30 for 4K. Disney+ charges $9.99 monthly. You don’t have to subscribe, but please don’t blame us if you prefer an ad-free experience for free.
In Closing
Our library is huge, and you won’t find this content easily anywhere else. If you like what we do, please subscribe. If not, you’re always free to close the tab — no hard feelings.
Thanks for reading,
WCO Admin
